University of St.Gallen (HSG)
Scientific research at the HSG is promoted by the HSG Research Commission (FoKo). It acts at the same time as an official body of the University of St. Gallen and as an official body of the Swiss National Science Foundation. Within the framework of the Basic Research Fund (GFF), FoKo supports internal research projects, publication projects and funds research talks and congress contributions as well as the «International Postdoctoral Fellowships»:
- The start-up funding supports HSG researchers in preparing project proposals in basic research. Read more on the Researchweb
- Research projects of HSG researchers are financially supported with project funding. Readmore on the Researchweb
- The «International Postdoctoral Fellowship» (IPF) supports young researchers to realise postdoctoral research or a habilitation project. The IPF Fellowship is open to both HSG-internal and external young researchers with a PhD.
University of Teacher Education St.Gallen (PHSG)
Nine institutes with thematic focuses are part of the Prorectorate for Research & Continuing Education. They carry out empirical research, development and evaluation projects and prepare expert reports.
Students are involved in development projects that lead to innovations in the region and contribute to the reputation of the PHSG.

University of Applied Science Eastern Switzerland (FHO)
The three universities of applied sciences FHS St.Gallen, HSR Rapperswil and NTB Buchs will merge to form a single university of applied sciences on 1 September 2020. All three locations will continue to offer courses of study and research.
